Community Content Coordinator (Part-Time, Hybrid)

Location: Hybrid + Detroit-based (remote + on-site event coverage)
Compensation: $1,300 – $1,700/month (based on experience)
About the Role
AboutFaceDetroit is seeking a Community Content Coordinator to lead consistent, mission-driven social media storytelling across our platforms. This role is ideal for someone who can translate on-the-ground community work into compelling digital content that drives awareness, participation, and neighborhood pride.
You’ll create a light strategy and carry out hands-on content creation. There should be a strong emphasis on capturing real moments from events, cleanups, and neighborhood activations.
Qualifications
2+ years experience managing social media for a brand, nonprofit, or community initiative
Strong content creation skills (photo, video, basic editing)
Comfortable using tools like Instagram, CapCut, Canva, or Adobe Suite
Ability to capture authentic, in-the-moment content at events
Strong writing skills with an understanding of tone and audience
Detroit-based or able to attend local events
Contractor will deliver agreed-upon monthly content outputs, including posts, stories, and event coverage. Progress will be reviewed during monthly check-ins based on deliverables and overall performance, not hours worked.

Key Monthly Responsibilities
Content Planning & Strategy
Develop a monthly content calendar aligned with campaigns, events, and seasonal moments
Identify weekly content themes and calls-to-action (volunteer, donate, participate)
Participate in a monthly planning check-in (30-45 minutes)
Content Creation & Publishing
Create and publish 2-3 posts per week (8-12 per month), including:
Photo posts
Carousels (education, before/after, storytelling)
Short-form video/Reels
Write captions that reflect AboutFaceDetroit’s voice and mission
Cross-post content to Instagram (@aboutfacedetroit) and Facebook (to be created)
Instagram Stories (Light coverage)
Share 2–3 story frames per week (8–15 per month), focused on:
Event promotionKey reposts (partners, volunteers)
Calls-to-action (garden work days, recruit landscape volunteers, etc.)
Event Coverage (Required)
Attend 2 events per month (cleanups, installations, or community activations)
Capture photo and video content on-site
Produce:
1 feed post (or reel) per event
3-5 story frames during event coverage
Community Engagement
Respond to comments and DMs 2-3 times per week
Engage with tagged posts, partners, and local organizations
Performance Tracking
Provide a monthly performance snapshot, including:
Top-performing content
Engagement trends
2-3 recommendations for improvement
