Let’s Work Together

Community Content Coordinator (Part-Time, Hybrid)

Application closes April 16

Duration: 3-4 month contract

Location: Hybrid + Detroit-based (remote + on-site event coverage)

Compensation: $1,300 – $1,700/month (based on experience)

About the Role

AboutFaceDetroit is seeking a Community Content Coordinator to lead consistent, mission-driven social media storytelling across our platforms. This role is ideal for someone who can translate on-the-ground community work into compelling digital content that drives awareness, participation, and neighborhood pride.

You’ll create a light strategy and carry out hands-on content creation. There should be a strong emphasis on capturing real moments from events, cleanups, and neighborhood activations.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years experience managing social media for a brand, nonprofit, or community initiative

  • Strong content creation skills (photo, video, basic editing)

  • Comfortable using tools like Instagram, CapCut, Canva, or Adobe Suite

  • Ability to capture authentic, in-the-moment content at events

  • Strong writing skills with an understanding of tone and audience

  • Detroit-based or able to attend local events

  • Contractor will deliver agreed-upon monthly content outputs, including posts, stories, and event coverage. Progress will be reviewed during monthly check-ins based on deliverables and overall performance, not hours worked.

What We’re Looking For

  • Someone who values community storytelling over polished marketing

  • A self-starter who can execute without heavy oversight

  • A strong visual eye and instinct for meaningful moments

  • Interest in neighborhood development, public space, or grassroots work

How to Apply

Please submit to info@aboutfacedetroit.com in one document:

  • 2–3 examples of social media accounts (including handles) or posts you’ve managed over the past 2+ years

  • A short note on why you’re interested in this role

  • Examples of event or community-based content

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
